It's a great day today! The weather is nice and the kids are happy. We are heading outside with the dogs to do some gardening and bask in the sun. Devyn likes helping me plant flowers and Ishan just loves being outside. Listening to birds and looking at trees, flowers, and everything around seems to really put him at ease. I'm lucky to be with dogs and kids every day that remind me of the simple pleasures of life and a nice day.

Mildred, the church gossip and self-appointed arbiter of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business.
Several members were unappreciative of her activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence.
She made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his pickup truck parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon.
She commented to George and others that everyone seeing it there would know what he was doing.
George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just walked away.
He didn't explain, defend, or deny, he said nothing.
Later that evening, George quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house and left it there all night.
As I finished my taxes Tues. I was all to depressed again as usual as to how much we actually keep. Yesterday morning I had an appointment to meet with the county assessor, with who I had requested an informal hearing. I requested the meeting due to the fact my "market value" went up 45k, drastically increasing my tax. So I arrive for my meeting armed with sales data from the neighborhood. I ask the assessor why there is such a drastic difference in what homes have actually sold for and their idea of the market value. I also told him unless they were making me an offer my home would never sell for what it was assessed. I told him he could have it for that price and I would even help him move. I told him the sales data I had with me actually came from his database. I asked him if I can come up with this why can't you? He gave me a long nonsense answer which I tuned out for... The truth be told not many people ask for a hearing so it is in their interest to keep assessing in this manner. My meeting took all of 10 minutes and I saved about 100.00 a month. I felt triumphant! I was amazed at how easy it was.....I felt like I got by with a little something.
Hi!
I hope this will be a good format to stay in touch and share interesting info. Ishan and Devyn are doing well. I just got the new Imac and I love it! I can't wait to start my video editing from our last trip to India and some video of the kids. I will post them here when I am finished. I am teaching Devyn to use the new "puter" (as he says), he catches on very fast. Spring seems to finally be here in Mo. I did some gardening yesterday and would love to do more today but must finish my taxes first. The IRS comes first today. I am still in shock about the shooting at virginia tech yesterday. It is so sad and senseless. Not much else I can say about something so incomprehensible.
I am planning Ishan's 1st birthday. We are going to have a small party with some friends, family and neighbors. It's hard to believe a whole year has gone. These parties are always more for the adults. But it should be fun. Ashok should be done with the semester soon. I know he is ready. I am looking for a ticket for him to go to India in June. He will be able to spend some quality time with his family. We never got to stop and talk when we went in Dec. with the kiddies. I better sign off for now, my short friends need me.
Ishan is walking! Can't wait to see him again. read more
